INSTITUTIONAL SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY CELL

Introduction

Dibru College believes that the role of an educational institution is not limited only on imparting knowledge within boundary. Therefore, it always tries to render social  services by partnering with neighbouring villages or schools.

Institutional social responsibility is one of the major thrust area of Dibru College. To take voluntary action and to create a culture of social responsibility through a myriad of activities that address teachers shortage problems in the partnered schools as well as welfare of the society, the IQAC of the college constituted Institutional Social Responsibility (ISR) Cell with a mission of upliftment, empowerment and betterment of the society.

Objectives of ISR Cell:
  1. To inculcate Social awareness, values and environmentally responsible behavior amongst students.
  2. To nurture students as citizens with moral, ethical and social values so as to provide service to the society through activities and discharge their obligations towards the society.

FUNCTIONS OF ISR CELL

As part of discharging its social responsibility the college undertakes various extension and outreach activities in nearby schools.

With a view to spread education and to create and increase awareness on various academic, social and economic issues especially among the girl students the Village Adoption Committee resolved to adopt Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya, Lahowal and Mancotta High School, Dibrugarh for the  purpose.

ACADEMIC DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME

KASTURBA GANDHI BALIKA VIDYALAYA, LAHOWAL, DIBRURUGARH –

Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayab is located at Ekarotoli, Binaygutia, Dikom has been running under Sarba Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), Dibrugarh for empowering girls’ education in the district where Never-enrolled, Dropout, School left out girl children are enrolled. The socially and economically deprived categories are generally considered for admission in the aforesaid school.

During the session 2021-2022 fourteen (14) teachers of various department of Dibru College volunteered their service and took 30 classes. They taught English grammar and composition, General Science and Mathematics apart from Yoga and Music. The beneficiaries were mainly students of class IX and class X.

CAKE BAKING & ICING TRAINING PROGRAMME

MANKATA HIGH SCHOOL – 11. DEC. 2021

Under the banner of Dibru College Village Adoption Committee, Teachers Unit and Juhal of Dibru College organised a one day training programme on Cake Baking and Icing at Mancotta High School. Ms. Suman Gogoi, Professional in Cake Baking was invited to conduct the training programme where the women of Niz Mancotta Village benefitted by participating in the programme.

BLOOD GROUP IDENTIFICATION CAMP

MANKATA HIGH SCHOOL – 11. DEC. 2021

Blood Group Identification Camp was organised at Mankata High School, Dibrugarh. Dibru College NSS Unit in assocation with the Department of Anthropology conducted the programme. A total of 145 students of Class VI to VIII participated in the camp where 104 students’ Blood Groups were identified and they were provided certificates.

BLOOD GROUP IDENTIFICATION CAMP

MANKATA M.E. SCHOOL, DIBRUGARH – 11. JAN. 2022

Blood Group Identification Camp was organised at Mankata M.E. School, Dibrugarh. Dibru College NSS Unit in assocation with the Department of Anthropology conducted the programme. A total of 60 students of the school were benefitted in the programme.

ONE DAY TRAINING ON VERMICOMPOSTING

MANKATA HIGH SCHOOL – 12. FEB. 2022

One Day Training on Vermicoposting programme was jointly organised by Department of Botany, NSS and Teachers’ Unit of Dibru College where Dr. Diganta Sarmah (Sr. Scientist & Head) and Dr. Sanghomitra Sarmah, (Subject matter Specialist) KVK, Dibrugarh were invited as the resource person to deliver their lecture on that topic. A total of 45 persons including students and teachers participated in the programme.
