Department Of Chemistry

About the Department

The Department of Chemistry at Dibru College, established in 1968, focuses on generating and disseminating knowledge in various areas of chemical science to create quality human resources for the country. The department offers B.Sc. Program and has seen significant growth in academics since its inception. It currently has 2 faculty members and 2 posts are vacant. It’s program B.Sc. in Chemistry is based on the Choice based Credit System (CBCS) and it follows an updated NEP Syllabus under Dibrugarh University. The key achievement of the department includes placement of the students in various laboratories such as IOCL, OIL, ONGC, BCPL and other companies and central/state government jobs of India/Assam. In case of Higher Education, students were enrolled in top most institutes such as IITs, NITs, IIEST, Delhi University etc. through IIT-JAM, CUET examination. In addition to that students were also enrolled in various state universities such as Dibrugarh University, Gauhati University, Tezpur University, Mizoram University etc. by clearing their own entrance examination. After passing master, a few students carry forward their journey in research field in chemistry at India’s top most research institutes such as IIT-Bombay, IIT-Indore, NIT-Silchar, Mizoram University, Dibrugarh University and even foreign institutes like Pukyong National University, Republic of Korea etc.
