Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), Dibru College, Dibrugarh

In 2018, the Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India, through the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell (MIC), launched the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) programme in collaboration with the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) for Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs). The programme was initiated with the objective of systematically fostering a culture of innovation, entrepreneurship, and start-up ecosystems within educational institutions.

The primary role of the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) is to engage a large number of students, faculty members, and staff in various innovation and entrepreneurship-related activities, including ideation, problem-solving, proof of concept development, design thinking, intellectual property rights (IPR), project handling, and management at the pre-incubation and incubation stages. These initiatives aim to establish and strengthen a sustainable innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem in Higher Educational Institutions.

In line with this national initiative, the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) of Dibru College, Dibrugarh, was established in 2022 with the objective of promoting innovative thinking, entrepreneurship, and skill development among students and faculty members. Since its establishment, the IIC has been actively involved in organizing workshops, seminars, awareness programmes, expert lectures, innovation challenges, and entrepreneurial activities to inspire students toward creative problem-solving and the development of a start-up culture.

At present, the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), Dibru College, Dibrugarh, consists of the following office bearers along with other members assigned to various roles and responsibilities:
