About the Department

  • Department at a Glance: Dibru College, Dibrugarh, accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), with ‘B’++ grade was established in the year 1963.The department of Education is one of the most popular and oldest departments of this college. Considering as an indispensible part of higher education, the subject education was introduced in the Dibru College in the year 2001.Dr. Runuma Sharma was the pioneer faculty of establishing major in the department. Department of Education is a full-fledged department with major courses. Total enrollment of the student was very much encouraging from the very beginning. It is noteworthy to say that the student showed good performance in curricular and co-curricular activities. Since inception the subject was very popular among the students. It becomes more encouraging than earlier after implementation of TET and specially compulsion of B.Ed, D.El.Ed. for teachers. The department has been showing consistently good results. A good number of alumni of this department have been able to make its mark in different field. Specially, most of the students are now become the teacher in different district of Assam by qualifying TET examination. We are always giving more weightage on teaching-learning processes. So, every year a number of students of our department are admitted in PG courses in different universities.
  • Year of Establishment:2001.
  • Name of the Programmes : The Department mainly offers undergraduate courses major, minor and generic. The psychological practical and practice teaching classes are also conducted by the department.
  • Uses of Modern Technology in Teaching Learning Process: Every faculty member of the department has e-mail id. Moreover, the department has open 3 nos. of Whats app group for 1st/ 2nd, 3rd/ 4th, 5th/6th semester students and also collected their e-mail id to communicate them frequently and giving them reading materials.
  • Future Plan: The department is planned to launch a departmental web-site for availability of departmental data of both students and teachers. The department is also planned to start Montessori training Programme for the students and others to make them prepare for obtaining job in the field of pre-primary education. Again, keeping in view, the importance of NET/SLET/TET for getting job in teaching profession . The department is planned to provide necessary support and training to the students to do the same.
