Department Of Physics

About the Department

The Department of Physics started HS and UG courses in 1966, three years after the establishment of the college in 1963.  Physics honours courses were introduced in 1976. Since then, the department has produced a large number of graduates who have served and contributed in various fields of the society. Many are excelling as teachers in schools, colleges and universities, while some others are shining as professionals in OIL & ONGC, banks, post-offices, and various government or private sector jobs. In the past and at present, the students come to study at this department from all over Assam and neighbouring states such as Arunachal Pradesh, etc. The student community is also diverse in nature, comprising of all religions, caste and community. Currently, the department is offering B.Sc. in Physics major (Four Year Undergraduate Programme) under NEP-2020 and also running HS (10+2) courses in Physics. The department, at present, has four permanent faculty members and another permanent faculty member has already got selected. The department also has two permanent laboratory staff at present.
