About the Department
The Department of Hindi at Dibru College, Dibrugarh, Assam, was established in 1963 Dr Satyadev Prasad he was the founder faculty member the next faculty was Dr.Alakha Niranjan Sahay (1 August 1984) followed by Dr Samir Kumar Jha (22 November 2004), Dr.Evalarie Kordor Doonai (30 Septemper2019) The Department aim was to promote Hindi language and literature enriching students’ linguistic and cultural understanding. Initially, the department began by offering Hindi as a Modern Indian Language (MIL) course at the Higher Secondary level and degree level. Last few decades, recognizing the growing importance and interest in Hindi literature and language studies, the department expanded its academic offerings.
In the year 2018, the department achieved a significant milestone by introducing Hindi as a Honours subject at the undergraduate level. This step provided students with the opportunity to pursue in-depth studies in Hindi literature, language, and related fields, opening new avenues for academic and professional growth.
Currently, the department offers both Hindi MIL for Higher Secondary and Degree students, as well as Hindi Major courses under the undergraduate (UG) curriculum. The faculty members are committed to delivering quality education and nurturing a deep appreciation for Hindi language and literature among students.
Through its academic programs, co-curricular activities, and cultural events, the Hindi Department plays a vital role in promoting linguistic diversity and national integration, while also contributing to the overall academic excellence of Dibru College.
2023 – A total of four (4) students got selection for pursuing M.Sc. in Physics, one each at Assam University Silchar, Dibrugarh University, Dibrugarh, Jorhat Institute of Science and Technology and Tezpur University, Tezpur.
2024 – A total of four (4) students got selection for pursuing M.Sc. in Physics, one each at Dibrugarh University, Dibrugarh, Jorhat Institute of Science and Technology, Hyderabad Central University and DHSK College, Dibrugarh.
2025 – A total of three (3) students has got selected for pursuing M.Sc. in Physics, all at Dibrugarh University, Dibrugarh.
